From The Ground, Up

What goes up, must come down. And both the paraglider and the jet started their flight from the ground. However, the only one with the feet on the ground in this case was the photographer (aka yours truly).



Well, I'm not participating in the Skywatch project (why not, really?) but I think this shot qualifies for that category as well.

The project is hosted by JFargo and will be running for 10 consecutive days. Today is day 4 of the project.



Not the perfect shot but I like the effect... I saw the apple core by the road with an ant exploring it, put my camera on the ground and took a few random shots, this one being the most successful. I doubt you'll be able to see the ant, though, although it is there.

Ok, so there's a new project going on, one that I didn't have the intention of joining but... well, I'm still not sure how often I'll be posting but here I am with my take one on From the Ground Up photos.

Zooming out

Oh well, I was thinking what to post for the final day of quilly's alphabet challenge. I knew I had a photo of a zebra in the zoo somewhere in my archives but that seemed too obvious a choice. I didn't have any zucchini at hand nor zinnias in the garden, and none of my family owns a Zippo.

Then I said to myself, why not try something I have never done before. So I grabbed my camera, set out on the balcony and tried zooming in on different objects. Unsurprisingly, most of the attempts failed but finally I kind of got what I wanted.

So here is my final photo of this challenge... thanks to everyone who ever stopped by this place. T'was fun.

3. High noon - the real thing



It has become a tradition for the secondary school (about the equivalent of college) graduates in Slovenia to dance a mass quadrille in the streets of the bigger cities throughout the country every third Friday in May. In the last few years graduates from some other countries in the region have joined in, and thus far every year the world record in the number of participants has been broken.

I'm beginning to realise most of my entries are some shade of green. Sorry about that but... green is such a spring colour and we're in the middle of spring after all. What have these green leaves with a fly shadow on them got to do with O, you might ask.
Well, they are oak leaves, and sort of oval, too.

Indescreet Insect Intimacy

Hmmm... High time?

Ok, I decided to go for something most of you are probably not familiar with. A typical piece of Slovenian rural architecture if I may call it so, the hay-rack.

As the name suggests, it is/was generally used for drying and storing hay. In the sub-alpine region precipitations are frequent and the farmers had to make sure their hay would dry so they put up a structure like the one in the photo below to provide some shelter. Some hay-racks were more complex but basically, they look much like this one.

These expressionist looking pictures are in fact the inside of an elevator so I suppose they qualify for the challenge.

UPDATE:

I've decided to squeeze in another photo of a cherry in bloom. Cherries are already past blooming here but the reason I have done so is the fourth letter of the slovenian alphabet which is "Č". And cherry in slovenian is "češnja", so...

Blossoms and bees

You guessed it, that's B for the alphabet photos


Well, there would be no fruit without bees to pollinate the blossoms so they play a vital part in the reproduction of many blossoming plants. Besides, the apian products are highly nutritious and healthy.

Incidentally, the blossoms in the photo belong to an apple tree.

Let's do some alphabet :)

Well, as of today, I'm unofficially joining a project which begins over at my friend's blog :)

So, it is altogether fitting and proper that I begin with an A which in this case stands for apple.
